Being overweight is not about how big you look, but it is all about risking your health. When you gain extra pounds, your body must work harder because it gives more stresses to all over your body. Once you accumulate more fat in your body, all of your heart, lungs and bones must work harder.

Studies show that eight out of ten people who suffer from Type Two diabetes happen to be obese. Other researches indicate that if you are over eighteen years old and diabetic, there is eighty percent chance that you will be overweight you get older.

If you have a big spare time around your stomach, you should watch out. You are more likely to have diabetes in the future. But once you lose ten pounds, the chance of getting diabetes goes lower by up to thirty percents. Isn’t this another motivation to lose weight and stay fit?

Many of you are probably aware that obesity can cause heart diseases. About seven out of ten people who have some type of heart diseases have obesity problems. According to American Heart Association, if you add twenty pounds to your body, the chance you will have a heart disease increase by one hundred percents.

I was watching evening news a couple of days ago and they were talking about hypertension in America. I was shocked to find out that more than two out of three Americans suffer from high blood pressure. They said that losing only a few pounds from your body will help blood pressure go down.

If you have been suffering from arthritis at your knees, you should try to lose ten pounds or so, which can reduce the pain significantly. Even if you have no arthritis, losing ten pounds can prevent from suffering from arthritis in the future.

If you want to lose weight to fit in smaller clothes and you are not successful, then you should try to lose weight to improve your health and you may have a better outcome. A different motivation can help you achieve you goals. Even losing a little bit of fat can improve your health dramatically.
